The Holy Scriptures are the esoteric treasures for all of us. Resources on philosophical literature, in the form of original scriptures, translations, interpretations and analysis are ubiquitous. Nevertheless, applied elucidation of their messages is always the innately felt need. Philosophical truths presented as aphorisms, bone dry descriptions or polarized write ups will not fulfill the need for which they exist. Religion is nothing other than philosophy put into action to foster international brotherhood.

I am neither an ardent seeker of the Truth nor a professional philosopher. Self study is the sole objective. In the process as a by-product, an attempt is made to pass on what little I learnt over the years. As the present generation is far removed from Sanskrit, they can't churn the treasure houses of our philosophy for guidance. But, if a ready made pudding is prepared, sure they may try, taste and may imbibe it. Present generation needs the answers to the ‘why’ before they embrace truths.

In today's high tech savvy era, computer based, audio-visual presentations will sure, enthuse even the uncanny to most effectively drive home the intricate philosophy to work-a-day world. We have PowerPoint presentations on an array of subjects such as the Bhagavad Gita, Aditya Hridayam, Vishnu Sahasram, Soundarya Lahari, Viveka Choodamani, Sree Sooktam, Mantra Pushpam, Asthakams, Sthotrams etc. Resources in print and on the internet are consulted for the explanations.

Purposefully, direct verbatim translation of the slokas and metaphysical overtones are evaded, to invoke interest even for the nihilists and non-Hindu brethren. Each chosen sloka is transliterated into English. Interpretations are always given in ingenuous English, keeping in view the wide user base. Emphasis is laid on the purport (bhaava), not on word to word meaning. Complex conjoint Sanskrit phrases and words are logically disjoined to provide clarity for the novice user. Audio files reciting the slokas are embedded for convenience to help understand the pronunciation of the Sanskrit. The test of the pudding is in its taste. Let us get your constructive criticism, lest we shall remain where we are!

about my interest

Hi, I'm Dr. Sarma. I'm a Physician with good interest in philosophy and literature. Over the past decade or so I had the pleasure of translating and interpreting some of our valuable scriptures. These are made into simple presentations (PowerPiont) and are provided on this site for download.
